Most people think Lyme is a rash and two weeks of tablets. For the unlucky ones — Ren among them — it becomes a years-long illness that rewires daily life. Here's what that actually means.
It attacks everywhere at once
Lyme disease is caused by Borrelia bacteria carried by ticks. Left untreated or caught late, the bacteria can spread through the bloodstream into joints, the heart and the nervous system. There is no single body part it leaves alone.
